Department Vision

The function seeks to enable, support, and guide the operational teams’ management of HSSQ on our projects. Purpose of the Role:

The role will consist of working between the office and work front (Site) providing advice to the organisation and individuals on how to work without harming themselves or others, as well as, managing risk and understanding the resources used by the business that may impact the safety of others and the environment.

This will be achieved by inspiring and influencing others to see the benefit of working responsibly, understanding the legal framework, and showing how safety, health, and environmental management can enhance operational activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Health & Safety

  • Assist in ensuring that all construction activities comply with the relevant H&S regulations, standards and company policy
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
  • schedule all safety-critical and other occupational health medicals.
  • Improve/streamline the booking/site liaison process.
  • Automate/streamline reporting.
  • Support the updating and systemisation of project training matrices.
  • Conducting remote project HSSQ documentation audits
  • Reviewing Spheracloud data and entries to ensure completeness.
  • Manage CoSHH library to make sure nothing has expired and delete those that have.
  • Pull together an HSSQ communications / Toolbox Talk calendar for standard cycle e.g. winter working, holidays, hot weather working.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, including incident rates, trends, and recommendations for improvement.

Incident Reporting

  • Assist in investigating and reporting accidents, incidents, and near misses events, as well as working with the team to recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences

Safety Documentation:

  • Contribute to the maintenance of safety records, risk assessments, method statements, and other documentation required for safety and environmental compliance.

Culture

  • Promote a positive safety culture within the organisation, influencing and encouraging all employees to prioritise safety and environmental responsibility.

Quality

  • Support the re-branding of the HSSQ Management system to get consistent logos, up to date role titles.
  • Manage links to the HSSQ Management System on Careys Connect ensuring obsolete links are removed/fixed and ensure superseded information is no longer available.
  • Work with the Head of Quality to identify opportunities to consolidate/simplify HSSQ management system documentation. And improve, streamline and automate data capture.
