Supplier Manager

Does the thought of a newly created position excite you? Make your mark and showcase your skills and experience as the dedicated Supplier Manager for the Careys People team, working with budget holders to introduce and maintain a robust supplier management framework from tender though to lifecycle management. This is a stand-alone role, reporting into the Head of People, with links across the People team as well as our procurement and accounts functions.

The suppliers you will manage cover the entire employee lifecycle including resourcing, onboarding, wellbeing, development and reward. As Supplier Manager, you will own these relationships (30+), performance managing against agreed contractual terms/SLAs and enforcing governance and compliance measures. Our supplier spend accounts for a large portion of the People Team budget, so robust commercial management, facilitating and maximising revenue/value-add opportunities is a key focus for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Structure, define and execute a supplier relationship management operating model to optimise supplier collaboration and relationships.
  • Establish and support a robust (cost-effective and quality) procurement model and processes. Assist in identifying and sourcing preferred suppliers and manage supplier relationships.
  • Work proactively with budget holders to ensure all external supplier costs are managed in a commercially effective way inc. preparing/presenting routine supplier metrics reporting
  • Maintain and maximise the revenue reclaiming and generating areas of the budget – including both internal and 3rd party agency re-charging and rebates; CITB grant ownership (including attendance and achievement grants, ad hoc CITB funds, and incentive related bonuses such as travel2train CITB, and the .gov apprenticeship bonus that Careys is eligible for).

Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in supplier relationship management.
  • Commercially and contractually aware – experience of negotiating, identifying and managing value-add contracts.
  • Experience of supplier sourcing, procurement and project management.
  • Tech/systems savvy with practical experience in designing, implementing and supporting efficiencies and solutions.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Comfortable dealing with numerical data with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • An understanding of eligibility criteria for CITB and apprenticeship levy grants and claim processes is preferred but not essential.


This role can be based out of any of our UK offices in London, Glasgow and Milton Keynes. We have a 2-3 day a week in the office hybrid approach.

  • 37.5hrs per week (9.00am – 5.30pm Monday – Thursday, 8.30am-4.30pm Fridays)
