The 30-acre, £1.5bn Elephant and Castle Regeneration in south London represents one of Europe’s largest city centre construction schemes. Once completed, it will offer 3,000 new homes, more than 50 new shops, several restaurants, a new park and significant infrastructure improvements.
Careys Civil Engineering has been awarded several contracts on the Elephant and Castle scheme. In fact, we have been on-site, since November 2014, fulfilling a number of contracted tasks, such as providing hard and soft landscaping at Trafalgar Place and One The Elephant, installing utilities and infrastructure at South Gardens, and creating the site-wide infrastructure package.
Our latest contribution to the vast Elephant and Castle project
Our current package of works – which commenced in January 2019 and is scheduled for completion in July of this year – involves the provision of hard landscaping on plot ‘H2’, with a particular focus on the installation of high-end paving. The full scope of our responsibilities on this contract includes:
- Laying Spanish/Portuguese granite paving and clay pavers
- Conducting S278 works – which involves making changes or improvements to public highways
- Creating new road crossings
- Installation of private and public street lighting
- Construction of granite planters
Careys’ expanding, high-end landscaping capabilities
Our significant contributions to the Elephant and Castle scheme only adds to our already extensive and wide-ranging portfolio of high-quality landscaping projects.
We have successfully completed substantial landscaping-related packages of works across the length and breadth of the UK. These include the creation of paving, water features and planting schemes on notable commercial developments, residential schemes and regeneration projects, such as Project Nova, Regents Place, Chiswick Park and Graven Hill.
