Careys Civil Engineering was engaged as Principal Contractor for the Section 278 Highway Enabling Works at Bracknell Retail Quarter. Both our team and Carey Group company Scudder Demolition undertook works on the site, sharing site control across multiple phases of work which included the alteration of the existing road network to enable full possession and access to the new site for the Bracknell Northern Retail Quarter Development.

Our work  was split into three phases across the High Street, Weather Way and The Ring/Bondway. With work on the High Street and Weather Way being carried out simultaneously and works to The Ring/Bondway work carried out after completion of the first two phases.

With an annual footfall of 36 million shoppers, logistical considerations and the impact of our works on local stakeholders were significant factors during pre-construction planning. Our team worked closely with Careys Design Team to ensure that appropriate solutions were developed and then carried out in all aspects of the soft strip, fit out, structural steel and builders works. As part of these works we delivered new mechanical and electrical packages, including the reconfiguration and integration of life preserving services.
