We conducted asbestos removal works in a live environment for a main contractor carrying out planned refurbishment works on a programme of 50 bathrooms for the London Borough of Havering.
‘Bathroom’ projects involve brief but potentially intrusive visits to residents’ homes that require careful and considerate management by our contract managers and site team. They typically involve removal of licensed and non-licensed Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACMs) including toilet cisterns, asbestos floor tiles, asbestos textured-coating to ceilings and walls, asbestos cement flues and asbestos insulation board.
We used specialist teams to address the challenge of working in environments when residents were in occupation. Considerate communication and effective delivery of works on time was critical.
An example of a small works project involved working in a three-storey townhouse to remove and dispose of asbestos insulation board infill panels and asbestos textured coating within the bathroom under fully-controlled conditions followed by a four-stage clearance air test before handing the property back to the main contractor.
