I thoroughly enjoy working with a motivated team who understand their goals and the contribution they make. As a leader I believe that fostering collaboration and inclusivity is incredibly important for this and I always try to ensure that our team reaches decisions by bringing people along on the journey.

After finishing my degree in Civil and Transport Engineering and spending two years working in Dublin, I joined Careys in 2003 as a Site Engineer at the Royal Bank of Scotland Headquarters project at Gogarburn, Edinburgh.

From there I progressed to Senior Engineer on the City of Edinburgh Council building before becoming a Project Manager and then Contracts Manager working on projects including the Livingston shopping centre development, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and multiple schools.

In 2018 I was promoted to Head of Delivery where projects included the Aberdeen Events and Conference Centre and Keadby Power Station. Every day is different in construction and the variety of projects we get to work on and people we get to meet is really enjoyable. I’m particularly interested in the energy market and want to learn how we can develop our offering because I see a very bright future for Careys in that market.

Although I’m Irish, Scotland is well and truly my home now and my time outside of work centres around my family with my wife and I being kept busy by our two young sons. I enjoy keeping fit and when the Scottish weather allows it, I’m often found in the garden enjoying a barbeque.
