Around the World at 80

We’re excited to announce that Careys Foundation will be supporting ‘Around the World at 80’, the charitable challenge in aid of Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity. Celebrating their upcoming 80th birthdays, Jim and Dot Jones will circumnavigate the globe this spring. They will cross an impressive span of 20 countries in a single engine aircraft.

At 80 years old, an age when most octogenarians are absorbed with sedentary activities or pursuits, we will be doing something unusual for a good cause.

Careys Foundation proud to support the work of the Alzheimer’s Society

Siobhan Carey, Careys Foundation Manager, met Jim and Dot at a charity event last year and was inspired by their determination.

With nearly 36 million people in the world living with dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease affecting 62% of sufferers – Careys Foundation is honoured to be able to support the cause and help raise funds for the much-needed research and work of the Alzheimer’s Society.

As sponsors of this phenomenal event, our Careys Foundation logo will feature on one side of the plane, alongside those of other organisations who are also supporting the challenge.

Dot and Jim have already been interviewed by the BBC about their adventure and will be sharing the highs and lows of this once-in-a-lifetime experience with the rest of the world in a two-part documentary.

Stay tuned for more information about Dot and Jim’s challenge.
