The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat is the world’s leading non-profit organisation for all those interested in the future of cities. It explores how increased urban density and vertical growth can support more sustainable and healthy cities, especially in the face of mass urbanisation and the increasing effects of climate change worldwide. The relationship between policy, buildings, people, urban density, urban space, interior space, and infrastructure is key.
The CTBUH Awards program honours projects and individuals that have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment, and that achieve sustainability at the highest and broadest level. Awards have been given in over twenty categories for Best Tall Building, Urban Habitat, Innovation, Renovation, Interior Design, Construction, and Engineering.
Construction Award, for which Jon is one of five judges, recognises projects that have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of construction in tall buildings, and take the technical solutions and possibilities for tall building construction to the next level. The project must display a superior level of quality and technical complexity over that of its peers, with elements that are transferable to other projects and have the potential to influence construction practices and the future of tall buildings in a positive way.
Good luck to all those who’ve submitted an entry – judging takes place on Friday the 11th of November as part of the CTBUH Tall Excellence Conference in Chicago.
