Apprentice Assessment Day 2018

Kick-starting the careers of emerging talent, last month our Human Resources team held their first Apprentice Assessment day in collaboration with several of our Group departments. On offer were apprenticeship opportunities for business and site administration roles within our Work Winning, Learning & Development and Recruitment teams.

8 candidates applied to attend through their secondary schools, colleges and the National Apprenticeship scheme, with a selection referred directly to attend. The one-day event was a fantastic opportunity to assess the aptitude and ability of each candidate, whilst providing them with an insight into the Carey Group, delivered by members of the team and our apprenticeship training provider ICON, through interactive and informative presentations.

Today was one of the most professional and organised assessment days I’ve attended, this is the first time I've witnessed a company bring together representatives from each department to play an active role in the selection process. It made a big difference to the apprentices; every single person left the event feeling inspired and wanting join the team at Careys.

The event also comprised of group-based activities to network, share their thoughts and raise any questions. The speed networking activity was an absolute success, shown through the candidates’ enthusiasm and interviewers’ feedback from their mini assessments.

Creating the ultimate memorable experience, the day ended with a visit to our nearby project site, W06 Wembley, where Project Manager, Fintan and the team explained our ethos – ‘The Carey Way’ and how it is consistently delivered on site in practice.
