Careys are proud to announce that the first of their new homes at Southill, Limerick are ready for occupation. After working closely with ABK Architects who acted as lead consultants for the client, Limerick City and County Council, the team has delivered a unique and demanding design within the constraints of public works cost limits.

Our team’s extensive house-building experience has been crucial in transforming the area, providing 42 new homes and apartments rated to an A3 energy rating standard. Our team undertook extensive piling works across a former brickworks quarry to enable construction of the homes, comprising two and three-storey residential housing blocks with landscaped gardens and public realm works that include a local park and public seating area.

In addition to this, our team also constructed six semi-detached units and installed two landscaped areas over the attenuation tanks which formed part of the new Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems on site. The extensive package of drainage works were undertaken at a depth of 6m and required careful management of both pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the local area.

In keeping with our policy of community engagement, we employed a range of local tradespeople including painters, banksmen and general operatives, retaining the services of numerous community liaison representatives to maintain good relations with the local community, in addition to supporting numerous local businesses through the procurement of material and labour.
