Modern brick building with large glass entrance canopy, floor-to-ceiling windows, and contemporary architectural design against cloudy sky.

We began by undertaking the bulk earthworks, excavating 29,000m3 of material to enable construction of the reinforced concrete frame, followed by installing the new culvert diversion, which was programmed during the summer holiday period to mitigate potential disruptions to school activities.

Concrete stairwell with metal handrails, white walls, and fluorescent lighting viewed from above looking down multiple flights.

This culvert ran through a nearby housing estate which surrounded the local school and connected to the sewer network within our site. As the existing sewer network had partially collapsed due to age, our team installed a new 900mm concrete pipe replacement.

As the academy was active during the project, our team implemented extensive safety measures to protect local stakeholders and prevent disruption.

As a result of the local housing estate and live school environment, we undertook regular liaison meetings with local stakeholders, and deployed noise, light, dust and fume management systems to prevent disruption to quality of life. In addition to these works our team also constructed the secondary block which included a large, feature staircase that our team installed in sections. The site tower crane was used to lift each section, with operatives being hooked onto an inertia reel during works for safety.

Finally, our team have undertaken an extensive package of hard landscaping works, including more than 6,500m of kerbing, 18,500m2 of tarmacing, 300m2 of reinforced grass paver, a wetpour surface play area, artificial grass surfacing and 1,500m2 of Kellen hardscape laid in a herringbone pattern.
