Infrastructure

Specialists in delivering bespoke infrastructure, utilities and civil engineering solutions to complex projects

Working across the UK on diverse and complex projects, our teams have excelled delivering infrastructure that includes roads, bridges, footpaths, drainage, sewage and district heating. Our capabilities and expertise extend to delivering a range of utilities works, including new installations, utilities attendance, and utilities diversions, in addition to taking full responsibility for acquiring required permits and planning consents for works.

Infrastructure projects

At North West Cambridge our teams delivered the main drainage works; 11km of primary and secondary runs up to 7m deep, 4km of roads, 41km of kerbs and edgings and the laying of 60,000m2 of various paving types. We also delivered the site-wide utilities contract, which included the installation of an 11km combined utility trench and at the time the largest water recycling system in the UK.

At Graven Hill, Europe’s largest self-build development, our team was integral to creating a thriving new community with the construction of 30,000m2 of new carriageway, 300,000m3 of earthworks and a balancing pond. They also installed 240 manholes, 16km of drainage and 22,000m2 of varying surface finishes and were responsible for the design and build of varying types of roads, the installation of street furniture and lighting, plus the construction of woodland play areas, ponds, viewing decks, boardwalks and bridges.

At all times during the project we were able to rely on a safe, professional, collaborative and quality driven approach from the Careys team. The outcome is a multi-award winning development that is a key part of the University’s future and Careys played an important role in delivering it.

Careys civil engineering teams are directly employed, highly experienced, water hygiene trained through our in-house programme and well connected across most UK utilities companies. We hold WIRS and NERS accreditation and work with a preferred GIRS-accredited partner.

In keeping with the Carey Group vision to be the most trusted and socially responsible construction company, that people are proud to work with, it is important we minimise disruption during our works by developing relationships with all stakeholders. We mitigate disruptions by closely monitoring noise and vibration levels so as not to affect the local community, whilst during the planning phases we apply appropriate phasing and traffic management plans to ensure that works can be completed swiftly, despite working within the confines of tight site footprints or within congested urban environments.
