Welcoming 18 million visitors each year

The terminal expansion plan includes the expansion of the departure lounge, baggage hall, provision of additional retail units, loading dock and baggage storage areas and retail areas to accommodate an additional 4 million people to the airport per year, bringing the total number of people expected to walk through the airports doors to 18 million over an annual period.

Our scope of works

Working directly for Birmingham International Airport, Careys will be responsible for delivering the substructure groundworks and civil works, including:

- Pad foundations

- Drainage

- Major service protection

- Concrete slabs

- Major foul sewer diversion which is in close proximity of the aircraft taxi areas and passenger link bridges

Commenced last month, our works are scheduled for completion over 37 weeks.

On being awarded the contract by Birmingham International Airport, Bjourn Bigley, Managing Director Careys, commented,

This is further testament to our growing aviation capabilities and follows on from the successful delivery of the Edinburgh Airport Stands Development, Phases 2A and 2B at the end of last year and our works previously delivered at Heathrow Airport and RAF Lossiemouth. We look forward to working with Birmingham International Airport to deliver their terminal expansion plan to meet the rapidly growing passenger demand.
