Careys has been shortlisted in the Project of the Year by a Specialist Contractor (Subcontract Over £6m) category for the V&A Museum of Design, Dundee project.

Our team started works on site in 2015, transforming a brownfield site located directly adjacent to the River Tay. The project entailed the construction of all sub and superstructure works on the prestigious project, in addition to the installation of the site's infrastructure including underground services, drainage and hard landscaping.

Our extensive experience of concrete structures has been crucial to working on a project that has faced hostile weather conditions, close proximity to the historic RRS Discovery, and a complex structural design from award winning architect Kengo Kuma. The unique curving geometry of the outer walls presented numerous challenges not usually encountered when working with concrete, but our team developed a highly bespoke peri formwork system to ensure sufficient support for the structure during the molding process.

Shortlisted entrants for the award will be judged on several criteria including client satisfaction, health and safety, sustainability, adherence to budget and relationship with supply chain, with the winner to be announced at the Concrete News Specialists Awards on Thursday 8th March 2018 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
