Glasgow University Keystone Building
The Keystone Building will be the latest addition to Careys’ University of Glasgow resume which already includes the Mazumdar Shaw Advanced Research Centre (ARC), Adam Smith Building, School of Health and Wellbeing and Infrastructure works between the buildings.
Our latest works at the Keystone Building include:
• RC Core walls at Core 4 Level 6-7
• Level 3 Pour 3 PT slab with drop beam. This is the slab being cast in the footage.
• Level 4 Pour 1 slab preparation ongoing
• Zone 3 double height RC columns ongoing
• Installation of precast stairs to Core 3 ongoing
• Level 3 Pour 4 falsework construction ongoing
The project will accommodate a range of dry and wet lab spaces as well as high-spec computing labs and general teaching facilities. The Keystone building will be the University’s most sustainable building as well as being its second largest, and was designed to achieve the BREEAM Excellent sustainability standard. The building will operate with an 80% reduction in energy use compared to other research-lab buildings. The actual construction of the Keystone Building has been centred around using low-carbon, circular materials such as timber systems and low cement concrete.
