In the ever changing world of construction, it’s not just the way we work that is changing – it’s also who we work with. In a well-known period of skills shortages, the industry is becoming a much more diverse environment, attracting a much wider variety of people.

With this comes a range of cultures, religions and beliefs. Recognising and respecting these differences isn’t just the right thing to do - it’s essential to building a workplace where everyone feels valued, safe, and able to thrive.

Being a great place to work is not just an idea that we hope for, it’s something that we strive to achieve – making it one of our strategic goals across the Carey Group. We’re committed to creating an environment where every individual feels supported and included, an environment built on respect through everyday actions, open conversations, and visible leadership.

This week, our Diversity & Inclusion Council spoke with several managers from across the Group to hear their thoughts on what respect in the workplace means to them, and how we can continue to champion inclusion across all our sites and offices.

Today, Scotland’s Regional Commercial Director Kevan Petersen answers some questions about Respect in the Workplace.
