The UK construction industry has continued to grow year on year, and with that growth has come a more diverse and dynamic workforce. As the industry works hard to address well‑known skills shortages, we’ve seen a welcome shift in the demographics of the people who join and shape our sector.

With this diversity comes a wide range of cultures, religions, and beliefs. Recognising and respecting these differences isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s essential to building a workplace where everyone feels valued, safe, and able to thrive.

At the Carey Group, we’re committed to creating an environment where every individual feels supported and included, which underpins our strategic goal of being a Great Place to Work. Respect is one of the foundations of our culture, and it’s something we continue to strengthen through everyday actions, open conversations, and visible leadership.

This week, our Diversity & Inclusion Council spoke with several managers from across the Group to hear their thoughts on what respect in the workplace means to them, and how we can continue to champion inclusion across all our sites and offices.

Today we hear from BDL's Robert Hoque who answers some questions about Respect in the Workplace.
