Careys is delighted to have completed multiple installations of ‘Smart Charge’ EV charging points, a brand-new, dedicated EV charging business that will give drivers access to ultra-rapid EV charging points, on behalf of our client, Sainsburys.

Acting as Principal Contractor, our specialist team’s scope of works include the planning, design, commissioning and hand over of multiple new EV charging bays, which specifically involved:

Coordinate and deliver EV store design.
Carry out topographical surveys, soil investigations, flood risk assessments and structural surveys.
Work with local authorities, DNO’s and ICP’s, to review and validate best (POC) points of connections
for new HV installations.
Design and install all new HV cabling and commission new sub-stations
Manage adoption and all associated legal requirements with adopting IDNO on behalf of Sainsburys
Manage new sub-station Installations for Sainsburys stores.
Install new LV GRP’s
Act as main contractor on all schemes.
Carry out all civil works, including trenching and backfilling and surfacing.
Install all LV and HV ducting, pits and manholes.
Manage LV works in live stores.
Install new white lining and EV charging Sainsburys branded signage.
Coordinate and commission EV charging schemes and launch.

The 150kW charging bays allow drivers to fully charge their vehicle in as little as 30 minutes. And best of all, they’re powered by the same 100% renewable energy that powers the Sainsbury's estate. Smart Charge offers spacious, accessible bays open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year which are compatible with fully electric vehicles.
